Programs and Activities
Three programs are operated by McLeod Alliance. Each is unique; however the programs share expertise in general advocacy and support for victims.
The Community Advocacy Program (CAP)
Provides community education; presentations in elementary and secondary schools and the college, local civic and religious organizations and chamber of commerce groups. Provides training for local healthcare providers, conducts volunteer training and coordination.
The Bilingual Advocacy Program (BAP)
Spanish speaking advocate who provides advocacy and networking efforts in and for the growing Hispanic population in McLeod County.
The Criminal Justice Intervention Project (CJI)
Training for law enforcement, court personnel, clergy, etc. in providing an appropriate response to victims of domestic violence.
The Intervention Project Coordinator is responsible for tracking perpetrators throughout the court system. She closely monitors courts cases and their outcomes. Each month she tracks 60-80 domestic violence cases within McLeod County. She works with law enforcement and prosecution to ensure perpetrator accountability. She assists our clients when they exercise their victim’s rights and accompanies them to court. She also facilitates our monthly Domestic Violence Task Force which is attended by judges, social service, the county sheriff, police chiefs, guardians ad litem and prosecuting attorneys. She documents and addresses systems response problems. She prepares the domestic violence informational packets that are left with victims when law enforcement is called to a domestic disturbance. If a client decides to file a police report, she will help them through the process.
